I'm two months late to the game, but I'm setting goals. I'm going to do my best to blog sessions as they happen! I'm still ~20 sessions behind from 2015, but I'll get to those eventually. 🙈
But right now, I want to tell you about John and Laura! John got in touch with me a few weeks ago to photograph his proposal to Laura at the Hermitage Hotel. I looooove photographing proposals and getting those genuine reactions of a whirlwind moment. And I really like being sneaky. Those things combine for a really great time for me.
Like most girls, Laura knew a proposal was in the works, but she had no idea it was going to happen last Thursday night. She had been told that she and John were having dinner with John's boss at the Capitol Grille at the Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville, because he thought he was getting a promotion, hooray!
Sorry Laura, he's actually a little poorer after the rock he bought for you, but I'd say that's a pretty excellent trade off.
Even when John couldn't explain why he wanted to wear a puffy vest over his sweater that night, Laura was still clueless. And she was especially clueless that her family and John's mom were hiding out with me. This photo feels like something from a sitcom.
If you've never been to the Hermitage, there are two sets of stairs leading up to this area, one on the left and one on the right. John and Laura were walking up the one on the left, but he was proposing at the opening on the right. So we just went around in circles with them, hoping to stay unseen.
As they worked their way around to the doorway, Laura's dad started playing the piano, and John lowered to one knee.
And there was much rejoicing.
John and Laura, I'm so excited for you guys. Marriage is the very best thing, and it was a joy and an honor to be a part of the beginning of yours.
