Engagement Session at Vanderbilt and Fox's Donut Den | Sarah + Riley

Hi guys! Before you take a look at Sarah and Riley's Nashville engagement photos, I want to tell you one thing. I'm giving away a book — Kid President's Guide to Being Awesome — over on my Facebook page. The people at Kid President are great friends of mine, and I love what they're doing over there. There's no catch to the giveaway (you don't have to like my page or share the post or anything). I just want you to leave a comment on the post telling someone why you think he/she is awesome. That's it! We're just spreading a little love around the Internet. So enter to win here.

Now, on to the reason you're here. I love when couples choose their own locations that are special to them, and Sarah and Riley did not disappoint. Riley went to Vanderbilt for undergrad. A few years later, he met Sarah, and they went on their first date, which included a visit to Fox's Donut Den in Green Hills. On a wonderfully warm and clear January day, they combined the two for their engagement session with a few portraits at Vanderbilt and a more photojournalistic approach for an engagement session at Fox's Donut Den.

We finished up at Vanderbilt right before 5:00, which, for those of you who live in Nashville, you know that's a precarious time to go to Green Hills. Riley took us through a maze of Nashville for a surprisingly quick travel time with no traffic. The people at the Donut Den were wonderfully accommodating, not only allowing us to take photos there but also giving Sarah and Riley a few gifts to take home.

When Sarah mentioned finishing their engagement session at Fox's Donut Den, I knew I had to do something with their sign. The first thing that popped in my head was a cinemagraph. I forgot to bring a tripod, but I held the camera as steady as I could, and I think it actually turned out OK.

Engagement Session at The Frist | Katie + Bryce

Whenever I'm planning an engagement session, I always ask the couple if there's a location that's special to them that we should go to. Katie is an art teacher, and she and Bryce had their first date at The Frist. Considering it's January and there aren't exactly stunning landscapes this time of year in Nashville, doing their engagement session at The Frist was such a great idea, and I'm so thankful they let us come spend some time there.

I had so much fun with these two, and it left me even more excited for their wedding this June! Here are a few photos from their engagement session at The Frist.
